Parking Lot Prayers: Mariah’s Story

After several texts and calls, Melissa, Life Forward’s Director of Client Services, first met “Mariah” in person in the parking lot of Life Forward’s Clifton location. She was there to pick up items for her baby. As they began loading the boxes and bags into the car, Mariah was surprised by how many things she was receiving. Her surprise led to several questions about Life Forward’s car seat safety program and other parenting education opportunities. She also shared with Melissa that some of her family members and friends were pregnant and that she wanted to tell them about Life Forward.

Once everything was in her car, Mariah began to open up to Melissa about some of the struggles that she and her family were going through. As she does so well, Melissa listened and offered words of encouragement to Mariah. Like so many of Life Forward’s clients, Mariah was facing relationship challenges, financial hardship and food insecurity. As they ended their conversation, Melissa took a moment to pray with Mariah right there in the parking lot.

A few days later, Melissa followed up with Mariah via text message. She shared with her some additional community resources that might help her family receive additional food. Mariah’s text back to Melissa was: “I have a big family and we don’t have much to eat in our house right now.  You have been so good to me.  Thank you!”

You are an integral part of Mariah’s story. While Melissa and the other Client Services team members are on the front lines in helping to meet clients’ needs, your support makes these encounters happen. Your generosity allows Life Forward to continue to be in ministry during these uncertain times. Your prayers sustain and uplift us. On behalf of Mariah and the hundreds of other clients Life Forward will serve this year - thank you!
