Katie's Story

Everything felt out of control. In early November, I was eight months pregnant, already the mother of a six-year-old girl, working a low-paying job, and wondering how I was going to provide any kind of Christmas for my kids. I knew there was a God, but it didn’t seem like He cared much about me or my family.

I went to Life Forward because I realized I’d be needing diapers and formula very soon and couldn’t afford them. They were so nice to me. They listened to my story and really seemed to care. They were also very kind to my daughter and they even gave her a children’s Bible. It melted my heart to see how happy she was to have her own Bible. She started turning the pages, looking at the pictures and wanting me to read it to her right there.

We didn’t have a lot this past Christmas, but we did read the story of Jesus’ birth from my daughter’s new Bible. As I read and looked at the picture of Mary holding the baby Jesus, I thought about how much I loved to hold my baby and what a miracle he really is. When I think about all I’ve been through this past year, I can see now how God was right there with me. I’m so thankful for Life Forward’s help!

Because of your generous gifts, Life Forward is able to provide ongoing practical, emotional and spiritual support such as children’s Bibles that women like “Katie” and their families need as they continue on their journeys. Thank you for being a part of God’s good work!
