Larry's Story: From Anxiety to Hope

Larry learned from his girlfriend that she was pregnant. The news sank to the pit of his stomach like an immovable boulder. He wasn’t ready to be a dad. His dad walked out on him when Larry was a baby. But Larry determined his little girl’s reality would be better. So, he reached out to Life Forward and asked for help.

While Larry was participating in parenting education sessions, a care package from Life Forward arrived. It contained an assortment of “guy things” like beef jerky, wireless earbuds, and a tire air pressure gauge. The handwritten note was very inspirational. Encouraged, he felt for the first time, he didn’t have to do this alone. In that moment, he found a sense of peace. Holding the care package, Larry thought, “I can do this.”

When Larry reached out to Life Forward to ask for help, he encountered support and learned parenting skills. He also grew spiritually. Larry went from anxiety in the pit of his stomach to having hope for his and his children’s future.

Imagine how much better the lives of Larry’s children will be to have a father who parents them well. Larry’s kids will be healthier, they will do better in school, they will be less likely to get into trouble.  Transformation in one life impacts the next generation.

We want our kids to know love, to be healthy, and to have a strong spiritual life. Not all fathers know how to provide this. Life Forward is especially suited to come alongside dads to help them grow in all aspects of fatherhood.

Thank you for your support of Life Forward’s mission as we continue to reach out to dads like Larry. You’re making a difference!
