Abby's Story

“Please don’t judge me.”

That’s what I actually said on the phone when I first talked to my Client Educator at Life Forward. There were enough people in my life offering me only judgement: my family, my friends, my boyfriend, and even my church.

I thought I was pregnant by a guy who was not my boyfriend. I’d already had two previous abortions that I really regretted but I felt like they were my only option. Now, here I was again. My boyfriend left me and I didn’t know what I was going to do.

My Client Educator didn’t judge me. She listened to me. She let me tell my story. She asked me questions about how I was feeling and what my plans were for the future. Then, she listened again. She didn’t try to give me easy answers or quick fixes. Instead, she talked to me about sticking to boundaries, healthy relationships, and the possibility of co-parenting with my baby’s father. I’d never really thought about any of these things. She also invited me to upcoming parenting classes at Life Forward.

As I talked with her, I started to cry. I felt like I’d messed up everything in my life. I felt alone and scared about my future. My Client Educator then told me about Jesus and how having a relationship with him could help me face my fears. She also told me how much God loved me and then we prayed together.

Before I hung up, she signed me up for the next Upward classes and also Momentum classes where I’ll be meeting one-on-one with her. I’m really looking forward to our first meeting.

At the end of the call, I said, “Thank you for listening. I really needed someone to talk to.”

Thank you for your support of Life Forward that helps women like me.

Sincerely,

Abby*
