Danielle's Story

Although she’d taken the first abortion pill, “Danielle” was not quite sure about her decision to begin terminating her pregnancy. In her mind, it seemed like the easiest and most logical choice, but her heart was feeling doubtful. She wanted to be a mom one day, but not today. She had too many plans for her life: finishing school, landing a better job, and finding a safer place to live. Yet, as she thought more about her decision, she still had some lingering questions. A friend told Danielle about Life Forward and how the people there had helped her. She thought maybe they could answer her questions.

Danielle immediately noticed something different about Life Forward when she walked through the door. The staff member at the front desk greeted her with a big smile and welcomed her. She offered Danielle a cold beverage and a snack while she waited. When she met with her Client Educator, she called Danielle by name. “I’m not just a number to them,” Danielle thought to herself.

During her consultation with her Client Educator, Danielle talked about her future plans and dreams and how having a baby right now just wasn’t good timing. The Client Services Team Member listened and answered Danielle’s questions. As the conversation went on, Danielle began to share more of her story. She opened up about her feelings, her doubts, and her fears about becoming a mother. She talked about her own rocky childhood and relationship with her mom. With all of that baggage, Danielle wondered, “Would I even be a good mother?” Her Client Educator shared with Danielle about the power of forgiveness in the Gospel and welcomed her to both receive and offer forgiveness in her life. She then prayed with Danielle and gave her a Bible to take home.

Then, the Client Educator shared with Danielle that even though she’d taken the first abortion pill, there might still be an opportunity to continue to carry her baby. Danielle’s eyes lit up as she learned that Life Forward could refer her to a doctor who could prescribe the abortion reversal pill for her. Even though she’d started down a path to have an abortion, she still had the opportunity to change her mind.

Danielle gladly accepted the referral along with some other materials to read about the abortion pill and parenting. Her Client Educator also referred Danielle to a local peer counseling center so that she could continue receiving the support she felt she needed to raise her child. She also walked out of Life Forward with a lot to think about.

Later on, Danielle returned to Life Forward and she was still pregnant. She had been to see the doctor who helped her receive the abortion reversal pill. After she left her first appointment, she thought and even prayed a little and decided to have her baby and take the step of becoming a parent. At this second appointment, Danielle received an ultrasound and saw her baby and heard his heartbeat for the first time. As the tears ran down her face, she whispered the words, “Thank you Life Forward for helping me and my baby.”

Because of your support, Danielle and hundreds of other women in our community are being served in new and life-changing ways through the ministry of Life Forward. With the addition of the ability to refer women to doctors who will prescribe the abortion reversal pill, we are offering them a new life-affirming option many never knew was available to them. Thank you for continuing to partner with Life Forward as we help women and their families make life-affirming decisions through God’s love.
