What can I expect at my appointment?
What Should I Expect During a Pregnancy Ultrasound?
During an early pregnancy ultrasound, you may receive a transvaginal ultrasound, which involves gently inserting a small, covered probe into the vagina to capture images of the pregnancy. You may experience some pressure during the examination, but it shouldn't be painful. The sonographer can take measurements to help estimate your due date and explain what they're seeing during the procedure. Afterward, your healthcare provider can discuss the results and answer questions. Life Forward offers limited obstetrical ultrasounds at no charge, along with consultations and referrals to additional community resources.

What Is a Limited Obstetrical Ultrasound?
A limited obstetrical ultrasound uses sound waves to create images of the uterus and answer specific questions about a pregnancy. At Life Forward, these examinations can help confirm whether a pregnancy is located inside the uterus, estimate how far along the pregnancy is, and determine whether a heartbeat is present. Life Forward generally uses a transvaginal ultrasound before 11 weeks of pregnancy and an abdominal ultrasound after 11 weeks. These examinations are provided at no charge, and trained medical professionals are available to answer questions and provide additional resources.
