Ivy's Story

Ivy first reached out to Life Forward for a pregnancy test along with STI testing. While trying to provide for her children, Ivy was in survival mode, navigating the weight of past trauma, fear for her safety, and uncertainty about her health.

During her appointments at Life Forward, Ivy shared pieces of a painful history marked by exploitation, coercion, and relationships that began when she was still a minor. It was clear that her experiences had deeply shaped how she viewed herself, her body, and her worth. Life Forward’s medical and client care team met Ivy with patience and compassion, working to restore a sense of dignity and control.

As Ivy faced a recent health diagnosis and financial instability, the team continued to walk alongside her. When transportation barriers prevented her from picking up medication, staff helped her identify delivery options. When food insecurity became a concern, Life Forward connected her with local food pantries. When housing felt uncertain, the team listened, encouraged, and offered support.

Despite the challenges she faced, hope began to surface. Ivy started a new job and expressed cautious optimism about remaining in stable housing. She showed openness to learning more about her health and God’s design for her body through Life Forward’s Springboard program. Each interaction was another reminder that she was not alone.

It's because of women like Ivy that we continue expanding our care—including services like Women’s Primary Healthcare—so more women can receive not only the help they need in crisis, but a steady path forward to healing and hope.
