Tonya's Story
When Tonya first came to Life Forward, she only had 15 minutes to spare. In a hurry and overwhelmed, Tonya was uncertain about the future of her family. “I already have four kids.” She expressed that ending her pregnancy felt like one of the only viable options.
But after seeing her positive pregnancy test, she agreed to return for an ultrasound. Having recently experienced physical assault she wanted to “make sure my baby is okay.” When Tonya returned, she shared her desire to parent her child. Despite past trauma and the challenges ahead, she chose courage over fear.
At Life Forward, Tonya found not only care and safety but also the reminder that she is seen and loved by God. A few weeks later, Tonya returned with the father of the baby where they got to hear the baby’s heartbeat together and shared they were feeling relaxed about this pregnancy now. They both accepted a care package and prayer from the team.
God moved courageously in Tonya’s heart—turning uncertainty into resolve, overwhelm into trust. Tonya’s story is one of many courageous moves—by women, by our team, and by supporters like you—making life and hope possible in the moments that matter most.
